Our Story

Our story began long before this picture would be taken.

2004.

Jackie stepped off of a plane and stood on Dominican soil for the first time. The air was hot and sticky, and though it was a place she had never been to before there was a familiarity, a sense of "home." This was her first mission trip. and God moved.

She returned in 2005.

And again in 2006.

In the fall of 2006 she met with the President of G.O. and accepted an invitation to join staff. She began raising funds and in May of 2007, moved to the Dominican Republic.

Alan and Jackie met in 2007 shortly after Jackie arrived on the mission field. What began as a true friendship later deepened into a beautiful relationship reflecting God’s love and grace. They were married on May 17, 2009.

Alan's ministry: Director of Education for Sports Ministry

Alan began partnering with G.O. as a National, empowered through G.O. Ministries to reach out to high-risk youth through sports. He works with an amazing group of 10 guys (Dominican, Haitian and American) facilitating camps, Bible Studies, and ongoing sports ministry. In 2012, after six years of working with G.O. as a National Partner, Alan began the process to join the G.O. Ministries Staff and now serves as the Coordinator of Education for Sports Ministry. His heart is for teaching kids to become Godly men! He now has the opportunity to teach them on a regular basis as a part of the Baseball Academy which is reaching nearly 300 kids daily!

Alan will also be facilitating teams and working alongside North-American Christians who come to serve on a mission trip with G.O. Ministries. He will have the opportunity to pour into hundreds of short-term team members this year and point them towards Christ's work here on the island through G.O. Ministries!

Jackie's ministry: Executive Director of Teams

Jackie’s passion for Missions began on her first trip to the Dominican Republic, just 2 years after accepting Christ as her Savior. Her story, one that led her down a path of darkness, ended at the foot of the cross. She made a commitment to serve God wherever He would lead. During several years of full-time service at her church, Christ continued to develop a burden and anguish for the people of the Dominican Republic. After two years of crying out to God, He led her back to the place her heart knew as home, and in the spring of 2007 she moved to Santiago, Dominican Republic.

Today Jackie continues her work with G.O. Ministries along with her husband Alan whom she met and married in the Dominican Republic. She oversees the Teams branch of ministry which includes over 70 short-term mission teams each year from all over the US to travel to the Dominican Republic to serve alongside G.O. Ministries national partners and oversees a team of staff members pouring into and walking alongside of them.

Together Alan and Jackie help facilitate the experiences of short-term teams on the field in the Dominican Republic and are passionate about challenging team members towards a deeper global perspective!

Team Members treat patients at a remote clinic and saw over 600 patients in two days in Hato del Yaque, D.R.

Alan and Jackie are looking forward to God’s developing plans in their lives! It is their desire for people around the world to be connected with the true author of life, for people to be changed and made new by the freedom found only in Christ. Yes, there is great need on the Island, but the true joy is found when able to point team members to where the Lord is already at work and helping them understand their role and how they can join in the work God is doing here!

In October of 2009, they found out they were pregnant with twins and on May 25, 2010 Jackie delivered 2 incredible, healthy twin girls! Read about their birth story here!
